What We’re All About
Our club is a dynamic collaboration, dating back to 2019 when four regional associations including Hockey Central Vic, North Central, Sunraysia and Wimmera joined forces to form North West Lightning. The CV Blazers (est.1993) teams that played in the Hockey Victoria metro competitions and the North West Country Lightning Junior State Championship teams were rebranded to become North West Lightning, creating a club spanning north west Victoria from Mildura to Bendigo.

At its inception, North West Lightning entered 4 senior teams in the HV Vic League 1 competition, a junior team in the HV Shield competition and 6 teams in the Junior State Championships. The club has since expanded to include Goulburn Valley, 3 junior Pennant teams, 10 JSC teams and 150 players in the Junior Development Academy running at five venues.

The collaboration with our partnering associations across the state has increased the depth of players in each of the competitions, with the aspiration of becoming a Premier League team. It has also established junior pathways, ensuring a flourishing hockey community in the north west region of Victoria.

At North West Lightning, we prioritize enjoyable, quality hockey within a vibrant social environment that embraces inclusivity. Whether you're interested in sponsoring, playing, or volunteering, there's a place for you in our club!
